SENATE RESOLUTION NO. 15

Recognizing the outstanding accomplishments of the Education
Commission of the States and honoring Kay McClenney, Vice
President of the Education Commission of the States.
Whereas, The 1966 National Governors' Conference called for
an interstate compact for the purpose of improving education with
active leadership of the governors; and
Whereas, This compact was identified as the Education
Commission of the States; and
Whereas, The Education Commission of the States is a
nonprofit, nationwide interstate compact that assists governors,
state legislators and education leaders to develop policies that
improve public education; and
Whereas, The Education Commission of the States provides
expert assistance to assist education policymakers with
information and testimony for legislative hearings, materials for
policy seminars and strategic communications workshops; and
Whereas, The Education Commission of the States has enjoyed
thirty-three years of continued success in improving education in
West Virginia, its forty-nine member states, the District of Columbia, Puerto Rico, American Samoa and the Virgin Islands;
therefore, be it
Resolved by the Senate:
That the Senate hereby recognizes the outstanding
accomplishments of the Education Commission of the States for
providing state policymakers with vital research and information
relating to the improvement of public education in West Virginia,
as well as the United States; and, be it
Further Resolved, That the Senate hereby recognizes Kay
McClenney, Vice President of the Education Commission of the
States, for her dedicated service and expert assistance to West
Virginia and the other member states of the Commission; and, be
it
Further Resolved, That the Clerk is hereby directed to
forward a copy of this resolution to the Education Commission of
the States and to Kay McClenney, Vice President of the Education
Commission of the States.
